Lalique-Haviland Boutique

I was recently invited to an event at the Lalique-Haviland Boutique on Madison Avenue near 58th Street.  This new(ish) boutique brings together two of the biggest names in luxury goods in one well-designed, modern space.
The spokesman for Lalique North America gave us a brief history of the brand and its offerings while the courteous staff kept the Perrier-Jouet flowing.  In honor of the 150th Anniversary of Rene Lalique's birth they have brought back several previously retired designs as well as modern re-interpretations of classic Lalique designs.  Apparently Lalique has a very devoted group of collectors and this is a prime opportunity to pick up a few pieces that have been prohibitively expensive in the past.  Lalique is not exactly to my taste, but there is no denying the care and craftsmanship that goes into each of the pieces.  The boutique offers a full range with jewelry, perfume, curios, vases, sconces, and even a table all crafted by their artisans.  My favorite piece, by far, was the crystal Victoire.

The focus of the night was really on Lalique, but the Haviland offerings are quite extensive as well.  The boutique offers the complete Haviland product line, as well as unique Haviland pieces featuring the designs of Rene Lalique.  There were many beautiful china patterns available all made in Limoges, France.  The boutique offers a Wedding Registry as well as free delivery for hotel guests.  It is definitely worth a trip, especially for serious Lalique collectors.
